Biography

Justyna Cybulska, PhD, DSc, Eng. is an associate professor at the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a head of the Biochemical Laboratory at the Department of Microstructure and Mechanics of Biomaterials of the Institute of Agrophysics Polish Academy of Sciences. Dr. J. Cybulska graduated from food technology (Warsaw University of Life Sciences) and from chemistry (Lublin Maria Curie-Skłodowska University). She did PhD and habilitation in agronomy at the Institute of Agrophysics PAS. Her expertise among others is the molecular and chemical structure of polysaccharides, functionalization of pectin, quality evaluation of fruit and vegetables, biomass valorization, design of new plant food products, encapsulation of beneficial microorganisms cells, AFM imaging and image analysis, rheology and chemistry of polysaccharides.
Dr. Justyna Cybulska was a principal investigator LIDER project from NCBR and several other projects financed by MNiSW and NCN. Currently, she is PI in OPUS from NCN focusing on the application of pectin-cellulose hydrogels as a new carrier of antagonistic microorganisms. Dr. Cybulska was a member of the Polish Young Academy Polish Academy of Sciences (2016-2021) and the Program Council of the Scientific Station of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris (2019-2022). She is an author of more than 70 publications and already supervised 4 PhD and co-supervised 2 others.
Justyna Cybulska is a laureate of, among others Marie Curie Fellowship, the Leonardo da Vinci scholarship, the French government scholarship, YGGDRASIL program (The Research Council of Norway), a scholarship for outstanding young scientists of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and distinctions of the 2nd Department of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She has completed internships at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Institute National de la Recherche Agronomique, Karpenko Physico-Mechanical Institute of NAS Ukraine, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She is a member of the Agronomic Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Scientific Council of the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Dr hab. Eng. Justyna Cybulska works as an expert at the National Center for Research and Development, Lublin Agency for Enterprise Support.
