Biography

After finishing a double bachelor’s degree in ”Internet Computing” (Computer Science) and "Media and Communications”, I followed up on my research interest in data science and data driven journalism by pursuing a master’s degree in ”Social and Economic Data Analysis”. I recently started my own project called ”CitizenData”, a platform for crowdsourcing structured data, which will also be a (small) part of my PhD. Mainly, I focus on news analysis and am working on a system to automatically detect media bias.

For four years, I have worked as a (full-time and working student) web & graphics designer, completed several internships and applied my multimedia, journalistic and computer science background in varying research projects. I am a very creative and highly motivated person, always taking the initiative and following up on new ways to achieve my professional goals. I have worked with several companies from fashion, human resources, local stores and event management to create and shape their branding and communication.

I have a a strong research interest in network analysis, machine learning, visualization and language processing. Also, I am offering web development services on a self-employed basis, and give 2 to 3-day workshops about webdesign. From October 2018 to February 2019, I have been an exchange scholar at Technion Haifa & University of Haifa, Israel. During all my studies, I have been a scholarship holder for the journalistic excellence program at the Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung.
