Biography

Dr Zhong Liang is currently Principal Investigator of National Heart Research Institute Singapore, and Associate Professor of Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Academic Clinical Program, and Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Metabolic Disorder Program. Dr Zhong is heading cardiovascular engineering and technologies theme and technical lead of cardiovascular system AI (CVS.AI) lab at NHRIS.

His research interests include cardiovascular imaging, mechanics and physiology, multiscale computational modelling, artificial intelligence and development of novel technology towards applications in clinical research. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, 1 book “Computational and Mathematical Methods in Cardiovascular Physiology”, co-authored 9 patents, 19 book chapters. He has secured S$12.8 million funds as principal investigator and S$11.3 million as Co-I funded by NMRC, BMRC and BEP, A*STAR. He has received Young Investigator Award (twice) from Singapore Cardiac Society (2011 and 2012), Young Investigators Award from Asean Federation of Cardiology (2012) and Sejong Medical Award from Asia-Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (2012), and SingHealth Excellence Award (2021). He is the programme lead of APOLLO (AI driven national Platform for CT cOronary angiography for clinicaL and industriaL applicatiOns (APOLLO)) – an A*STAR IAFPP funded research program.
