Personal Statement
As professor emerita with 40 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate and PhD in nursing levels, 30 years experience as a gerontological nurse researcher, certified as a psychiatric mental health nursing nurse practitioner, I am an expert on on mental health, aging, cognitive impairment, late life relationships, and cultural issues. With more than 20 years of experience working PhD students, pre and postdoctoral fellows, as well as junior faculty, I have successfully mentored numerous individuals in nursing and other disciplines. My work has been disseminated to countless national and international audiences, published extensively in the fields of nursing, gerontology, health care and psychology.
