Biography
Maria Giulia Lionetto received her Master Degree with honour in Biological Science at the University of Lecce (Italy) in 1992. She received her PhD degree in “Fundamental Ecology” in 1996 at University of Lecce (Italy) defending a thesis on the osmoregulation of the euryhaline fish Aguilla anguilla. During her doctoral thesis, she was a guest researcher in the General Physiology Laboratory of the Department of General Physiology and Biochemistry of the University of Milan, In 2001 she was a research fellow at the August Krogh Instituted of the University of Copenhagen in the framework of a collaborative project on “Cell volume regulation in isolated cell from eel intestine: role of cytoskeleton by use of confocal microscope”. From 2000 to 2015 she was lecturer in Environmental Physiology at the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies of the University of Salento (DiSTeBA). From 2015 to date she is associate professor of Physiology at the University of Salento. She collaborates to national and international research projects in the field of Epithelial Physiology, Aquatic Physiology, Environmental Physiology and Ecotoxicology.
