Biography
Frank Herzel received the M.S. degree in physics from the Humboldt University of Berlin in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree in theoretical semiconductor physics from the University of Rostock in 1993. Since 1993, he has been with the IHP, Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, where he was involved in semiconductor device modeling, until 1996. In 1997, he was with the Electrical Engineering Department, University of California at Los Angeles, as a Visiting Scholar, working on jitter and phase noise modeling in oscillators. Since then, he has been working on the design of silicon ICs for RF communications. His main research interests are design and optimization of high-performance frequency synthesizers for space applications and radar sensors.
