Biography
Dr. Bani Salim is an Assistance Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Texas at Tyler. He holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Dr. Bani Salim's areas of research interest and expertise include Renewable Energy Systems, Energy-Water-Nexus, and Advanced Buildings’ Energy with focus on Data Analytics and AI implementation while introducing novel materials and advanced control systems to produce dynamically efficient and smart systems. Furthermore, Dr. Bani Salim is actively engaged in the research and implementation of innovative techniques aimed at optimizing the efficiency of HVAC systems in both residential and commercial structures, thereby minimizing energy usage. Dr. Bani Salim is currently engaged in a research project aimed at creating and executing a methodology for smart zoning comfort systems. In addition, he is currently engaged in projects investigating the impact of AI and Machine Learning on energy equity, accessibility, and education to improve sustainability and the societal, human, and environmental impact of engineering, with extended applications that can be used by instructors in the classroom. Dr. Bani Salim is also employing his expertise in data analytics to improve engineering education and student success.
