Biography

Seungwon Yang is an Associate Professor (2022-present), and has a joint position in the School of Information Studies (SIS), as well as at the Center for Computation and Technology (CCT) at Louisiana State University. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech. He has worked on three NSF awards as a co-PI or senior investigator (#1620451 and #1762600 as a co-PI, and #1737557 as a senior investigator) and has been working in a multi-disciplinary project team. In his leisure time, he enjoys visiting beautiful state parks in Louisiana with his wife and son.

Research interests: Crisis Informatics, text/data mining, and AI (deep learning/machine learning) applications.
