Biography
Dr Hossain is a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Electronic Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Kent. Dr Hossain's main areas of expertise are in sensors, light field imaging, instrumentation and measurement, computed tomography, 2-D and 3-D visualisation and characterisation for combustion systems (H2, Biomass, Fossil and Oxyfuels), condition monitoring, machine learning and solid oxide fuel cells. He has been a principal investigator or co-investigator of various research projects on advanced monitoring and characterisation of flames in both lab- and industrial-scale fossil/biomass fuel combustion systems, supported by external and internal funding bodies including EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), UKCCSRC (UK Carbon Capture & Storage Research Centre), BF2RA (Biomass and Fossil Fuel Research Alliance).
His current research work is funded by EPSRC to develop and deploy a novel instrumentation system based on multi-spectral light field imaging principles to characterise and monitor flame radical emissions using different blends of H2/CH4 in domestic boilers and developing intelligent data-driven models for NOx prediction.
His research interests are light field imaging, computed tomographic techniques direct solid oxide fuel cell flames, and 2D/3D flame (H2, oxyfuel/coal and gas turbine combustion) characterization.
