Biography

Sébastien MICHIELS is a socioeconomist affiliated at Dial (Paris), French Institute of Pondicherry (India) and GREThA (Bordeaux). He holds a PhD on development economics from University of Bordeaux (France) and his research focusses on the links between labour, financial practices and migration patterns in rural India. Sébastien has conducted his research on rural Tamil Nadu for the past nine years and took part in two household surveys: the RUral Microfinance and Employment survey (RUME) carried out in 2010, first wave of the Networks, Employment, dEbt, Mobilities and Skills in India Survey (NEEMSIS), carried out in 2016-2017.
