Biography
Prof.Dr. Bülent VEREP from Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Faculty of Fisheries, Department of Basic Sciences, Department of Marine Biology, was born in Trabzon in 1971, graduated from Trabzon Marine Sciences High School in 1987, and from KTÜ Sürmene Marine Sciences Faculty, Fisheries Technology Engineering Program received the title of engineer. In 1995, he completed his post-graduate studies named 'Environmental Forces Affecting Marine Cages', and subsequently he completed his doctorate studies in 1999 with his work titled 'A Study on the Evaluation of Uzungöl's Hydrographic Properties, Aquaculture and Recreation' and received the title of Doctor of Fisheries. In 2007, he received the title of Associate Professor by passing the Associate Professorship exams conducted by the Interuniversity Council.
Prof. Dr. Bülent VEREP continued his academic activities in the fields of Marine and Inland Water Biology, water quality and pollution, environmental problems affecting aquatic ecosystems and aquatic toxicology. He worked as an executive and researcher in scientific research and social projects at national and international level.
Prof. Dr. Bülent VEREP started his graduate studies as a Research Assistant in 1993 at KTÜ Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences with a staff of 50 /D, and continued his academic activities in 1997 as a lecturer at KTÜ Rize Faculty of Fisheries. After completing his doctoral studies, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in 2000. Appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Biology at Rize University Faculty of Fisheries in 2007, Prof.Dr. He has been working as the Head of the Department of Marine Biology and as the Head of the Basic Sciences Department since 2005. Between 2004-2007, he acted as the Faculty European Union Credit Transfer Coordinator and between 2003-2006 he was the faculty representative in the University Senate. He worked as the General Secretary of Rize University during the establishment phase of Rize University between 2007-2011. Dr. Verep, who has been appointed as Professor of Fisheries Basic Sciences, Department of Marine Biology as of February 2013, is married and has 2 children.
