Biography

Since 2004, We have been working on the research networks to investigate aerosol optical, physical and chemical properties, and atmospheric pollutants throughout China. We continude to conduct the target observations for the thermal, dynamic and material structures of the planetary boundary layer in typical areas, and develop the atmospheric large-eddy simulation. We built the networks with great efforts, and systematically revealed the temporal and spatial distribution and the trends for the aerosol properties, uncovered the change and influence of atmospheric pollution and revealed the interaction between aerosol and boundary layer. We discovered that the proportion of fine particle increased markedly with nationwide industrialization development. The high-concentration industrial aerosol was strongly cooling the atmosphere-surface system throughout years, which cloud have changed the thermodynamic structure and reinforced the regional atmospheric stability. In the urban agglomeration of North China, we found that the regional jointly implemented control measures, e.g. establishing a coal banning area, could efficiently improve the air quality. We found the PM2.5 threshold for aerosol extinction, the impact threshold of the aerosol radiative forcing on the boundary layer structure in the pollution region. The networks’ results have been used to verify nine satellites and ten models, which fills the gaps of aerosol network and improves the satellite inverse technique and the model simulation technology in China. We will focus on the interaction between aerosol, atmospheric pollution, boundary layer structure and climate change.
I have taken charge of more than ten research projects from NSFC, MOST, CAS, and the local governments. I have published 230s papers (including 170 SCI papers), which were cited by more than 7500s SCI papers. I was invited to be Associate Editor of Atmospheric Research, Atmosphere. I won ten academic awards, inculding the Excellent Young Scientist Foundation of NSFC, Beijing Science and Technology First Award, Middle-aged Science Award of ZhaoJiuZhang, Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowships, National Excellent Meteorologist etc.
