Biography
Dr. Guisela Grossmann-Matheson holds the position of Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne working in the Ocean Engineering Group.
She obtained her BSc (Hons) degree in Oceanography from Rio de Janeiro State University in 1999 and received her MSc degree in Marine Geophysics from Fluminense Federal University in 2002. She worked as a physical oceanographer for 15 years at the Petrobras Research Center in Brazil working with metocean data analysis until moving to Australia in 2017. In 2024 she earned her PhD from The University of Melbourne with research focused on extreme ocean waves generated by Tropical Cyclones. Currently, she is a Research Fellow in the Ocean Engineering Group in the Infrastructure Department working with wind-wave modelling, ocean circulation modelling and metocean data analysis.
