Biography

Domenico De Berardis was born in Teramo (Italy) in 1968.
He worked as Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist in the "real world" clinical practice at the NHS Department of Mental Health, Psychiatric Service of Diagnosis and Treatment, Hospital "G. Mazzini", ASL 4 Teramo, Italy until December 31, 2021.
From January 1, 2002, he was appointed Director of the Mental Health Center of Giulianova, ASL Teramo.
He collaborates independently with the Institute of Psychiatry of the University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy (concerning research projects and teaching).
He is a contract Professor of Pharmacology at the Nursing School of the University of L'Aquila, Italy.
He is visiting Professor at the Samara State Medical University (Russia), International Research Lab in Neuropsychiatry, directed by Professor Daria Smirnova.
He attained a post-graduate course in "Addiction Medicine", a PhD in "Functional Neuroimaging", and university masters in "Clinical Psychopharmacology" and "Healthcare Communication". In 2016, he achieved an "MPH - Master of Public Health Management" at the University of L'Aquila, Italy.
He has published over 220 peer-reviewed articles with an h-index of 47 and 5938 citations (Scopus, January 2023) and several book chapters.
He was also Editor for the book "Melatonin, Neuroprotective Agents and Antidepressant Therapy" published in 2017 by Springer and for the book "Psichiatria perinatal (Perinatal Psychiatry)" published in 2021 by Giovanni Fioriti Editore.
He is the Deputy Editor of Evidence-based Psychiatric Care, the official journal of the Italian Society of Psychiatry. In addition, he is an Associate Editor of the journals Frontiers in Psychiatry (IF 2.849) and Research and Advances in Psychiatry. He is the Academic Editor of The British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research.
He regularly serves as Associate Editor in Neurodegeneration and Review Editor in the Addictive Disorders for Frontiers in Neuroscience (IF 3.707) and Frontiers in Neurology (IF 2.889).
He serves as a member of the Editorial Board of several peer-reviewed international journals (such as Journal of Clinical Medicine, Brain Sciences, World Journal of Psychiatry, World Journal of Clinical Cases, Current Psychiatry Research and Reviews, NeuroSci, Diseases, Women, Current Psychopharmacology, Psychiatry International, Current Drug Therapy, ISRN Psychiatry, Alpha Psychiatry and several others), most of them with Impact Factor and Indexed. In addition, he is an ad hoc Reviewer for more than 100 indexed international medical journals.
He has managed as Co-Editor several special issues in Frontiers in Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Medicine, Brain Sciences, International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Current Pharmaceutical Design.
He is currently the Chief Editor of the Journal "Mental Illness" published by Hindawi (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/mij/) and indexed in Scopus.
