Biography

Sofia Almeida is the coordinator of the Tourism and Hospitality area at Universidade Europeia. She also holds coordination responsibilities in the Master's program in Tourism Management. Sofia holds a Ph.D. in Tourism, a postgraduate degree in Tourism Product Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Corporate Communication. Currently, she serves as an associate professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technologies at the Universidade Europeia, teaching courses in Tourism and Hotel Marketing, Digital Communication and Social Media, Brand Management, and Digital Marketing.

Sofia Almeida is the director of CETRAD-Europeia, a new research hub resulting from a partnership between Universidade Europeia and Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, and an integrated member of CETRAD (Center for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development). Her research focuses on hotel management, networks, hotel marketing consortia, tourism marketing, hotel branding, digital marketing, and more recently, her research interest has concentrated on the impacts of sustainability in the tourism sector.

Sofia worked for fifteen years as Marketing Director at the ARTEH® Hotels & Resorts hotel marketing consortium, an independent hotel chain with international representation. Sofia began her professional career at Solares de Portugal and later worked at the Tourism Observatory. She is the author of several international research articles, book chapters, and contributions to dictionaries and encyclopedias in the field of tourism and hotel management. She is also a speaker and event organizer, including scientific events in the field of tourism. Additionally, she is a trainer and consultant, participating in various international projects in the tourism sector.
