Biography
Davide Taurozzi is a third year Ph.D. researcher at Roma Tre University, Science Department. He is a Biologist with special interest in freshwater ecology and bird ecology and migration, studying as bird ringer.
His research seeks to quantify the conservation status of Italian alpine temporary ponds, identifying the dominant processes controlling diatom community patterns. Particular aims of the project are to study altitudinal and seasonal variability of diatom species in temporary ponds and assess the impact of physiochemical parameters on diatom communities across different biogeographical regions and latitudinal gradients.
Previously research during his Master's Degree focused on how diatom and macroinvertebrates communities colonize plastic substrates in a coastal wetland. In particular, he investigated the temporal turnover of macroinvertebrates and diatoms communities on virgin substrates made up of different plastic polymers, focusing on functional traits and co-occurrence analysis. Additional main researches focused on the detection and impacts of microplastics on lichens, birds and hydrozoans.
