Biography

After finishing my 5 years degree (licenciatura) in Biology at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), I pursued PhD studies at the Dept. of Plant Physiol. (USC), financed by a FPI competitive fellowship. During this period, I was a visiting PhD student (8 months granted by MICINN) at the Wageningen University (The Netherlands), where I was able to learn advanced seed molecular techniques. My PhD thesis at the USC was graded as Summa cum laude with an extraordinary award.

In October 2009, I started postdoctoral research at the CBGP (Centre of Excellence Severo Ochoa). During this postdoctoral period, besides being financed by Spanish government projects I obtained a highly competitive Juan de la Cierva Post-doctoral MICINN Fellowship (2011-2013). In June 2016, I achieved a position as Profesor Ayudante Doctor for 5 years at the UPM. In April 2020, I achieved the I3 certificate as recognition of excellence and maturity in science research. In August 2021, I obtained a permanent position as Profesor Contratado Doctor. Recently, I reached the positive ANECA accreditation for "Profesor Titular de Universidad (Associate Professor; March 2022)", and I have 2 "Sexenios de investigación" recognised.

I have published 24 SCI papers, 19 of them in Journals of the Q1 of the Plant Sci. field. I have also published 1 book chapter. I have contributed to 42 international and national congresses (8 oral communications in international and 7 in national conferences).

I successfully secured research funding from various funding sources, including MINECO, the Community of Madrid, UPM-Banco Santander, and the European PRIMA-call. I also engaged in international collaborations (TRILATERAL).
