Biography
In September 2022, I joined The Carazo and Sorzano Lab in the capacity of a postdoctoral researcher working in cryo-ET-focussed image processing.
Previous scientific experience:
From 2020-2022, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hanein lab working on Cryo-electron Microscopy (cryo-EM). We used this technique to determine three-dimensional structures of macromolecular assemblies in a fully hydrated state and in cellula. I am specialized Cryo-Electron Tomography (cryo-ET) that can give insight into these complexes in cells or tissues. Also, I am the lab member specialized in cryo-EM/ET image processing analysis.
In 2016, I obtained a place on the Pasteur-Paris University International Doctoral Program (Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant No. 665807) and joined the group of Iñaki Guijarro (Biological NMR Technological Platform). During my PhD, I worked on the structural and characterization of Functional Amyloids from the fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus.
In 2015, I did an internship at the Biological Research Center in Madrid, where I began working in the field of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) with a project related to molecular recognition and chemical glycobiology.
From 2010 to 2014 I studied a bachelor’s degree in Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid. During my thesis research project, I worked on the bioremediation of phenolic groups in industrial oil fractions degraded by ligninolytic fungi. Following this, I completed my Master’s degree in Microbiology gaining experience in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry while working on biodegradation of oil by higher fungi.
