Felix B Tan

Biography

Dr Felix B Tan is Professor and currently Faculty Research Director in the Faculty of Design & Creative Technologies at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), NZ. He has held other roles at AUT since joining in 2003: initially as Head of the School of Computer & Information Sciences; Associate Dean Research in the Faculty of Design & Creative Technologies; Director of Research Management / Head of the University Research Office; and Head of the Department of Business Information Systems in the Faculty of Business and Law. Professor Tan was recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Postgraduate Supervision Award; as well as the 2013 Excellence in Research Award; and was a nominee for the 2014 Vice Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award. Prior to AUT, Professor Tan was at The University of Auckland Business School for 12 years.

From 1998 to 2012, Professor Tan served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Information Management. He was also on the Council of the Association for Information System from 2003 to 2005. He has held visiting positions with the University of New South Wales; Queensland University of Technology; National University of Singapore; The University of Western Ontario; Georgia State University; The University of Hawaii at Manoa; Royal Holloway University of London and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Professor Tan is known world-wide for his work in the global IT field and is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences. His other research interests include IT user behaviour and the management of IT. He has published in several top journals including MIS Quarterly, Information & Management, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Communications of the AIS, Communications of the ACM, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, as well as other journals and refereed conference proceedings.
