Biography

Dr Aziz is a Lecturer in Media & Communication Studies at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. He holds PhD from the Digital Media Research Center at Queensland University of Technology, Australia. His research interests explore the intersection of digital media, culture and migration, focusing on inclusion and citizenship. His doctoral research draws on a multi-sited qualitative approach to explore the Rohingya diaspora’s digital media use in Bangladesh and Australia from a non-media-centric and transnational perspective. He is interested in shaping and contributing to projects that involve themes of everyday digital media and cultural practices among marginalized communities such as refugees and diaspora. His papers have appeared in top-ranked journals, including Int. Journal of Communication (IJoC), New Media & Society, Media, Culture & Society; Policy& Internet; Communication, Culture & Critique; Technology in Society, and Contemporary South Asia.
