Biography
Sara García Linares holds a B.Mus. in Violin (CPM Rodolfo Halffter), a M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (European Mention, with honors), for which she obtained the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award from Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
Sara joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Chemistry of Complutense University in 2009, where she completed her M.Sc. and Ph.D. under the supervision of Professors Álvaro Martínez del Pozo and José Gavilanes. She also spent six months at Professor J. Peter Slotte’s laboratory in Åbo Akademi University (Turku, Finland). She has published nineteen articles in indexed scientific journals and two book chapters.
Sara has attended international meetings, workshops and courses, giving seminars in some of them. As a member of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Sara has actively participated in numerous scientific outreach activities: European Researchers’ Night, Science Week, high schools Science fairs and several articles. She has also been involved in teaching duties at Complutense University. She is part of the directive board of the Spanich Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Sara was recipient of a Real Colegio Complutense Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard University for Distinguished Junior Scholars and she worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Adrian Salic's laboratory at the Department of Cell Biology in Harvard Medical School for two years. She is currently Assistant Professor at the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Complutense University of Madrid.
