Biography
My primary research goals are directed toward enhancing digital images for different applications. During my graduate studies, I proposed various methods related to image fusion, specifically pansharpening, for satellite applications. My work was nominated as a finalist for the Huawei Best Student Paper Award at IEEE ICIP2010, Hong Kong. I have also continued my research in multiresolution decomposition methods, including wavelet, contourlet, and shearlet, and proposed a technique that uses Bayesian inference to improve satellite digital images. This research was awarded the Best Paper Award in the Session of Image Processing at IEEE SPA2013, Poznan-Poland.
Starting from September 2022, I have held the position of Head of the Computer Information Systems CIS department at Al-Quds Open University. In this role, I am responsible for managing a team of approximately 60 academic spreads across all university branches in Palestine. I also ensure that course outlines meet academic standards and that courses are assigned to educators with the appropriate background and expertise.
I prepared comprehensive materials for the Digital Image Processing course in Arabic language for the Master’s program and also served as an external examiner for Master’s theses related to multimedia and digital image processing at various universities in Palestine. This allowed me to stay connected with the academic community and contribute to the student's research effort.
Designing numerous e-learning courses in AI, digital image processing, web page design, and data structures for the open university. These courses are designed for students who are unable to physically attend the university due to various reasons, such as political, economic, health, maternity leaves, and other circumstances.
