DR. EDGAR LAMPKIN’S BIOGRAPHY:
“Success is knowing you have made a difference in this world.”
Dr. Edgar Lampkin: A seasoned educator with 38 years of transformative experience in education. His journey began in the heart of Mexico City, battling adversity, poverty, and inner-city struggles. Rising above, he embraced his Mexican heritage and nurtured a rich multicultural perspective. As a U.S. and Mexican citizen, he has become a beacon of unity and cross-cultural understanding.
From humble beginnings as a migrant farm laborer, Dr. Lampkin soared through educational challenges, finding solace in sports and community engagement. As a Migrant Student and English Language Learner, he forged his path, embodying resilience, and determination. His dedication in the school of academics led him to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Bilingual Emphasis and Teacher Credential from CSU Chico in 1986.
Dr. Lampkin's impact expanded as a bilingual teacher, assistant principal, and innovative administrator. He masterminded equity-focused Conflict Manager programs and championed social justice education. In 2005, he earned a doctorate in International Multicultural Education, igniting a mission to spread anti-bias education across Eastern Europe in Special Education schools and improve education for the Roma population.
A trailblazer, Dr. Lampkin's administrative prowess spanned to vice-principal, principal, and director roles, cementing his commitment to K-12 education. He cultivated understanding as the Director of English Learner/Student Services for Yolo County, propelling equity, and inclusion. As Superintendent of Williams Unified School District (WUSD), he drove transformative change for five impactful years. Currently as statewide CABE Chief Executive Director he provides statewide support and advocacy for bilingual education, equity in education for ALL students and strives to builds multicultural competence and cultural understanding through parent engagement programs, professional staff development for bilingual educators and political lobbying for English Learners and Immigrant student education.
Dr. Lampkin's legacy extends beyond professional achievements. In the “school of life” he has become a loving husband of 36 years and father of four accomplished sons, he exemplifies the "Personal Best" ethos. He and his wife, Superintendent of Woodland JUSD, were honored for their community contributions. He has traveled the world and experienced life throughout. Dr. Lampkin's story serves as a guiding light for others aspiring to overcome challenges and pursue a brighter future.
