Amina Sambo Magaji

Biography

Dr Amina Sambo - Magaji is a computing, academic & Tech policy professional with 20+ years of successful business transformation for private and public sector organizations. She currently the pioneer Ag Director, Digtial Literacy and capacity development at NITDA where She brings in her expertise towards achieving the Nigeria Digital Transformation. Prior to this, for four years, she was Head of The Office for Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Dr Sambo - Magaji holds a first class degree in Computer Science from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), a Masters with Distinction (Information Engineering) and PhD (Artificial Intelligence) from the Robert Gordon University, Scotland. Her research was on designing algorithms that combine search strategies for Distributed Constraint Satisfaction Problems. Dr Amina has published and presented her work in several international conferences and journals. In her academic pursuit, she has several years of lecturing experience and is a key resource person at the National Open University Nigeria, Advance Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (NOUN-ACETEL) where she is part of the team that pioneered MSc and PhD in Artificial Intelligence through curriculum design, content creation and and ongoing facilitator of some courses. She is currently on a sabbatical Leave at NOUN-ACETEL focusing on the research theme "Artificial intelligence for teaching, learning and research."

Additionally, Dr Sambo - Magaji is a United States Distinguished Humphrey Leadership Fellow, a member - Presidential Technology and Creativity Advisory board, member - informal Expert group of the World Telecommunications Policy Forum (IEG-WTPF-21) at ITU as well as member of the ADHOC Expert Group (AHEG) for the preparation of a draft text of a recommendation on the ethics of artificial intelligence. She is a recipient of several national awards. She is a strong advocate for the girl child education and innovation for sustainable development. She is an active member of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS).
