Biography

Anna W. Culbertson, MA, MSLIS, is the Head of Special Collections & University Archives at San Diego State University. She teaches classes about visual and textual media history, including art and literary movements, zines, diy publishing, and science fiction, among other topics, and enjoys challenging students' perceptions of the so-called achievements of the Digital Age. Her own research focuses on documenting and preserving counterhegemonic historical narratives and perspectives, with a particular emphasis on the former Soviet Union. She is currently investigating sources of American anti-communism and Russophobia.
