ORCID for Funding Organizations

Understanding the impact of your funding programs is vital to your strategy, program design, and mission alignment. By embedding ORCID iDs in your funding workflows, you can reliably connect your grantees and funding programs -- and save everyone time and reduce errors caused by manual keying of information. Using ORCID in your system(s), you can play your part in building a trusted research information infrastructure by asserting connections between individuals and the grants you award them.

Make the most of ORCID! Join your colleagues in a community of practice: learn how other funders are using ORCID; read our best practices for funding organizations; use our workflow-based documentation to build ORCID into your grant workflows; and discover our outreach resources to help engage with your researchers.

Many funders are already actively supporting the use of ORCID iDs. You can see a full list of ORCID funder members on our membership page (sort by Research Community - Funders but note that government agencies appear under Government in this list). Some have developed policies for the use of ORCID, including requiring their researchers to use an iD during the grant application and/or publication process; others are participants in the ORCID Reducing Burden and Improving Transparency (ORBIT) project.
